Tree Health & Safety Evaluation

Worried about a tree? We'll come take a look.

Sometimes a tree just doesn't look right β€” yellowing leaves, a new lean, dead limbs, mushrooms growing on the trunk. You don't necessarily need to remove it, but you do need someone with experience to help you decide what to do.

We perform visual safety evaluations on trees in your yard. Our 40 years of experience working trees in Henry and Clayton County means we've seen most of what trees do here, and we can give you honest, straightforward advice on whether something is becoming a hazard, whether pruning would help, or whether you should plan on removal.

What our evaluation includes

  • Walk the tree(s) on your property β€” trunk, canopy, root area
  • Identify obvious safety concerns we can see visually
  • Honest recommendation: leave it alone, prune it, watch it, or plan on removal
  • Quote for any recommended work β€” at no obligation
  • If we spot something that needs a deeper look, we'll refer you to a certified consulting arborist (more on that below)

What we don't do

We're a tree care company, not a forensic arborist firm. For these things, we'll happily refer you to a certified consulting arborist in the area:

  • Formal written arborist reports for legal, insurance, or zoning purposes
  • Detailed disease diagnosis or pest identification programs
  • Tree appraisals (dollar value)
  • Liability-sensitive evaluations (e.g. tree disputes between neighbors)

If we can save your tree with the right pruning or treatment, we'll tell you. If a tree is past saving, we'll tell you that too β€” and if you need a formal report, we'll point you to someone who specializes in that.

When to give us a call

  • Tree leaning toward your house, driveway, garage, or sidewalk
  • Large dead limbs visible in the canopy
  • Mushrooms or shelf fungi growing on the trunk or roots
  • Cracks or splits running down the trunk or main branches
  • A noticeable new lean β€” or an existing lean that's getting worse
  • Recent construction, grading, or trenching near the tree's roots
  • Storm damage you're not sure how to assess

The Rowe Standard

40 years of seeing trees in this corner of Georgia.

We've been working trees in Henry and Clayton County since 1986. We're members of the International Society of Arboriculture, our team trains regularly, and our experience with the species, soils, and weather of south metro Atlanta is hard to replicate.

Most homeowners who call us for an evaluation aren't trying to commission a formal report β€” they just want to know if the tree is safe, what their options are, and what it would cost to fix. That's exactly what we're set up to give you.

If your situation calls for something more β€” a written report, formal disease diagnosis, or anything liability-sensitive β€” we have relationships with certified consulting arborists in the area and we'll point you the right direction.

FAQ

Tree health questions.

What does a Rowe tree health and safety evaluation include?
A visual on-site assessment: we walk the tree(s) on your property, look at the trunk, canopy, root area, and any visible signs of trouble. We tell you what we see, what concerns us if anything, and what your options are β€” leave it alone, prune it, watch it, or plan on removal. There's no charge for the evaluation; if we recommend work, we'll quote it.
Do you do formal arborist reports or written diagnoses?
No β€” we focus on practical visual safety evaluations and the tree care work that follows. For formal written reports (often needed for insurance claims, neighbor disputes, or zoning), detailed disease diagnostics, or tree appraisals, we'll refer you to a certified consulting arborist in the area. That's their specialty, not ours.
How can I tell if my tree is becoming a hazard?
Common warning signs: a new or worsening lean toward your home, large dead limbs in the canopy, mushrooms or shelf fungi on the trunk (often a sign of internal decay), cracks or splits in main branches, exposed or damaged roots, or recent construction near the root zone. If you're seeing any of these, it's worth a free evaluation β€” sometimes the issue is fixable, sometimes it isn't, but you should know which.
Do you do deep root fertilization?
We can refer you to specialists who do deep root fertilization and tree feeding programs. Our focus is on tree removal, trimming, and stump grinding β€” the work that follows when an evaluation reveals something. If your situation calls for fertilization or pest treatment, we'll point you to the right person rather than provide a service outside our core expertise.
Can a struggling tree usually be saved?
Sometimes, yes. Trees recover from drought stress, minor disease, and root disturbance with the right support and time. Severe structural damage, advanced internal decay, or extensive root loss usually means the tree is past saving. A visual evaluation will tell us which category yours is in.
